Juana Larreta

Juana Larreta did a large part of her career as a flamenco dancer and later as a percussionist of oriental music and flamenco. She studied for four years in Madrid at the Amor de Dios Academy and moved to Granada after that. She has been part of several projects and companies where she has integrated the programming of festivals and circuits in Spain and also in Germany, Ireland, Italy, Greece and Morocco. She has presented her show De Sur a Zur at the Enrique Morente Auditorium in Granada.

She then began her oriental percussion studies with singer and percussionist Omar Benlamlih. She also studied in Turkey with Raquy Danziger, Bunyamin Olguncan and Hakan Kaya. Then she met the great darbukista and master Misirli Ahmet. She studied his technique closely with him, in Turkey and Egypt and has collaborated with him as a guest artist in Istanbul and other cities in Turkey.

Juana is also part of the Anatolian Ethnic Dance Project Program with the Turkish dancer Neslihan Yilmazel. She teaches Flamenco Anatolian Fusion workshops in Milan and Istanbul with her. She has taught Arabic rhythms courses at the Sambiosis Percussion Academy and the Euro-Arab Foundation for Higher Studies. She acompanies the Training workshops for dancers taught by Federica Masi, with dancer Elena Berrocal and dancer Celina at the Sandra Zárate School in Granada. She has been part of groups like Shiva Tantra, Mujeres Mediterráneas, David Sinclair and she has collaborated with Minha Lua, Zaar Dance Company, El Laff, Syria in Me, among others.
