

Hamid Ajbar
Hamid Ajbar was born in Chefchaouen, Morocco. From a very young age, he demonstrated his musical talents and was influenced by the Sufi "Zawiyyas," where he encountered the spiritual qasidas and muwashahat poems of Sufi masters such as Ibn Arabi, Shushtari, and Harrak. At the age of 12, he began studying classical Andalusian chant and violin at the Conservatory of Chaouen, where he studied for six years.
He completed his education in Tetouan and Rabat, graduating with top marks in Andalusian and Arabic singing, violin, music history, and the Andalusian repertoire. A versatile musician who masters both Eastern and Andalusian modes, he has won several national singing prizes in Morocco and was selected to be part of the National Orchestra of Andalusian Music, conducted by Mohamed Briouel. During this time, he collaborated with the Brihi Orchestra, founded by the renowned Abdelkrim Raïs, as well as with artists such as Mohamed Bajadoub, Aïcha Redouane, and Abdelfattah Bennis.
In 1998, he moved to Granada, where he quickly began performing with various artists from the flamenco, Arabic, and early music scenes, including Paco de Lucía, José Mercé, Carmen Linares, El Lebrijano, Emilio Maya, Eduardo Paniagua, and Omar Faruk Tekbilek. Since 2015, Hamid has been performing in several countries around the world with his two ensembles, Hamid Ajbar Flamenco and Jinnan Al Andalus, while also participating in other projects as a solo singer.
